Understanding Contamination Flags

NVES uses contamination flags to quickly communicate the environmental status of a project. Here's what each flag means and how they're triggered.

Flag Types

Automatic Flagging

When a lab result is entered with is_compliant set to 0 (non-compliant), the system automatically:

  1. Updates the project's contamination status
  2. Changes the map marker color
  3. Generates an alert for project stakeholders
  4. Logs the change in the audit trail

Clearing Flags

A contamination flag can be cleared when subsequent lab results demonstrate that contaminant levels have returned to acceptable limits. This typically requires multiple passing tests over a defined period.
